People in this subreddit need to realize it's not 2015 anymore. You can't get a good quality running car for under 5k. Sell a 5k car for parts for 1500 after 18 months, and that's under $200/month running cost.
The story of the GR Yaris road car project going coming to a head stemmed from the WRC regulations being scrapped (which the GR Yaris was designed for) and the FIA shifted towards the upcoming Rally1 regulations instead. Toyota was burned because they badly wanted to race this engine (and also that amazing chassis) in WRC.
I found a 2008 2 door Yaris for $5,500 from a Toyota dealership with 61k. I read 2008 models seem to have problems with the paint peeling. While I don't want that issue this one shows no signs yet, is within my very tight budget, and is super affordable for me to insure. Are there any other issues with this year?
2008 toyota Yaris, first car 131k miles, $4000 (decided to skip out on the prius) i decided to skip on the prius ,so i might get this instead, i know Toyota is a reliable brand but not sure how reliable a 131k mile 2008 Yaris will be, hoping to make it to 180k-200k miles on it with regular maintenance , i am a college student who just needs
So awesome! Too bad it's not available in North America, we don't get the nice things. I'm due for an upgrade. My 2007 Yaris is nearing 300K and I'm not sure if I should get the 2020 Yaris/Mazda2 Hatchback.
Unfortunately no. Most stuff I saw came from YouTube. But I know they make TRD performance parts for the manual transmission, coilovers, sway bars, cams, super chargers (only for certain engines), and bucket seat adapter rails. When I lived in Japan I convinced a buddy of mine to buy a car (Toyota vitz) with most all of this stuff already on it
Matt Watson from Carwow got a taste of the new GR Yaris. Lots of interesting stuff and massive changes to the car. The engineers gave insight of what and why the changes are made. Also it comes in auto now! I find it interesting that there's lots of love coming from Akio Toyoda to this car.
The Yaris is the reliability choice, (as per delivery driver comment below), and is somewhat easier to drive than a Polo because of it's lighter and even more uninformative steering. The models up to 2011 look quite cheap on the interior, but anything newer than 2012 isn't dreadful. The Polo is the better choice if you want a "nice" car to own
Not that people didn’t already know Toyota’s are reliable, but last week I rolled over 272,000 miles on my 09 Yaris I use for work. I bought it in June of ‘18 with 172,000 miles on it, I’ve put 100,000 miles on it since obviously with the only work done to it besides regular maintenance (oil changes, brakes/tires and one belt) being a
